Hey everyone, I have a manitou mars super. Its an 80mm travel fork. If I were to upgrade to a mars super air (120mm) will that screw up the geometry of my bike? Im curious as to what the effect may be.
Thanks

Hey Monkey Spud! Where the he11 you been? Haven't heard from you in a long time. Glad to see you posting again.
I'm not a fork expert by any means so I won't hazard a guess, but there are some earlier posts I've seen asking about the same question that might help you. From what I've read it seems that it will mess up the handling though. Stick around! Later, DG

For each inch of travel it will relax your head angle about 1 degree. A 2 degree change is significant to me. You may also want to check with the manufacture of your bike if all warranties will be intact with that tall of fork, some won't warranty above 100mm.
Sounds like you're building a freeride bike, that'll be FUN!!
Good riding.

Im riding a schwinn homegrown. Ive read about people breaking the downtube by putting on a shock bigger than stock. I was thinking about an inch now.. Mabey like a marzocchi z1 free rider / wedge....

uh....duh? Schwinn is gone......Get the 120mm fork, I doubt that your frame will break.

and if it does, since Schwinn is gone will you be happy to back up your advice with a $400 "warranty" check to the spudmeister for a new frame? probably not.
I say err on the side of caution and go with 100mm. I have a set of MXC coils on my bike, and they noticably changed the bar height and steering response.
