I'll be in Moab, UT for 3 or 4 days next month. I'm interested in some relatively mild mountain biking. My wife and I are in our 50s, in decent shape, but not looking for the crazy thrill rides that I see some of you impressive young mountain bikers handle. We're more into riding for the scenery and ambiance of the trails. We would have to rent mountain bikes while we're there. Any suggestions?

Also, if better bike rides await elsewhere, we are also planning to hit Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef National Parks on the same trip. So far our activities will consist of hikes, but if biking is an option we're game!

Intrepid trail in Dead Horse State Park is a great mountain bike ride, A great hike on your travels over to Bryce is Lower Calf Creek falls.
There are some nice mellow trails north of town on the east side of the highway near the "Chuckwagon Dinner" site. If you rent from a good shop in town, they will give you great advice on places to ride and free maps of the trails. Poison Spider Bike Shop is the best in town, IMHO, for good bikes and excellent knowledge and service. I agree with jmcneil1 on the Dead Horse Park trails, beautiful views and mellow rides.

Gemini Bridges trail (actually more of a road). Can be ridden as an easy out and back from the road to Dead Horse Point. Easy, fun ride, incredible scenery when you get to the bridges.

Gemini Bridges is a good recommendation. It is more of a rough road than a trail. Hurrah Pass is also pretty mild from my recollection.
