Just got one and wondering if it's something I should hang onto, I mean I really like the crazy old school look of it so I'm going to hang onto it anyways but....you guys know what I mean! The paint and decals are kinda rough but its completely 100% orig and it will look really great once I get her cleaned and lubed. :thumb: I'll post pics tomorrow if anyone's interested in checking it out.

Well, I didn"t get any replies but I'll post a few pics anyways. Here are the parts that have been cleaned and lubed, the crank has more work to be done, (in the way of cleaning) I also cleaned and lubes the hubs (SR hubs with Shimano freewheel, chainring is also SR) and added a set of street tires I had sitting around along with a new (used) chain.

I don't know if the BMX crowd gets excited about the little details like us C&V guys do, but I like the way they routed the brake cable through the down tube gusset and still felt the need for a cable guide. Have you looked for more info at BMX museum?

Haven't visited yet but it's cool cause I'm past the point of caring if it's worth keeping or not, just going to go ahead and keep doing what I'm doing and when I'm done I'll take her out for a spin......or two! ;)

cool bike but it isnt a 1980, brobably late 80's early 90's diamond back.

up until the mid 80's they still had the diamond gusset as well as the looptail rear.
heres a picture of a 1980 silver streak for refrence:

zukahn1, street rider, Phan7om Ryder, thanks! I can't wait to have it all done! I built this one for my youngest daughter around 10 years ago, she was 14 then and now has it hanging in her livingroom! =0) Only differance is now it has a vintage laid back seat post and spoked wheels.

Yeah, that's more like a 1990 Diamond Back. No, it's not something you should hang on to. It's something you should send to me for me to hang on to. :D

Really nice bike, I'm jealous.

EDIT: Yes, moar pics. :)

I love that hub shot. Super clean.

It does look like your chain is about 1 link too long, though.

Thanks. I know the chain is to long but its got hollow pins and I don't know how to remove them? I want to use a regular chain breaker but don't know if it will work without damaging the hollow pin.
