I'm probably going to get the cro-moly 2005 Specialized P.1 after a while of not knowing what to look at and not going to my LBS - the freeride hardtail thread helped a lot, thanks MadMan

The European one (I'm in England) has a difference to the bike on the above link - a Hayes HMX-2 front disc. I will also get the bike with a 9spd deore and a chain guide. Anyway, I want to swap the Static for a longer travel fork directly out of the bike shop so I need suggestions for a 130mm (I don't care about the year of it) travel fork in the same price range as the Static. I will go £50, maybe more, above the price of the Static (£200 I think, so 350-ish USD). Oh, and it's not essential, but it would be great if it had 100/130mm adjustable travel.

Thanks a lot, (and well done for surviving to the end of this! :D )

Yep, I constantly hear good htings about the z1 when it comes to free ride. A friend of mine has a fox with 130mm not sure of the year or price range but he just got it a few weeks ago after his old one crapped out. Hes very happy with it, ide go for the z1 as fox tends to run high with the price

yeah, I've been looking at the FR series, they look real nice. The Stance Flow won't work as it is adjustable from 120/150 and as the frame is at most for a 130mm fork (so say Specialized) most of the travel will be pointless.

The chromoly P-1 is more of a street than freeride bike....

yeah I know, but freeride forks will do the same as something like a DJ, but will also allow me to go onto trails etc...

You can go onto trails with a rigid, they wont do anything accept mess with the geometry more on the bike, and most likely raise up the ride height. If your going to jump, get a Sherman jumper.....80 mm of smooth travel, hella stiff, and looks pimp.

I dont think its meant for 5' travel. For my kona, 5' voids the warranty.

The scrap should use a 5in...

the P.1 frame is designed for forks up to 125mm, so the extra 5mm won't hurt anything
