I am very new to this. I have a stationary bike that I ride almost daily for an hour. It's your basic stationary bike with a 'dial' to increase how hard you pedal. I don't feel as though I am getting a 'good' workout.

I was reading about Wind Trainers. There are so many out there on the market and many vary in price. My question is does anyone here use them and what are your opinions on them? And does anyone have a good link to purchase one? I like the trainers that allow the front tire to come off and the bike is braced in the center. {I presently have a mountain bike that I would like to use on the trainer.**

Or am I not training properly on the stationary bike? I feel as though a wind trainer would give me a better resistance workout than the stationary bike.....any thoughts?

When you say wind trainer I think of the magetic trainers they sell at my LBS, the ones that the road bike mount onto. I think anytime you are on your bike you get a better feeling being in the proper posistioning for your actual bike. If your goal is to lose weight this probably does not matter but when you are racing or just riding then it makes a big difference. You are in a more upright posistion on a stationarry bike also which is better for your back.

I feel I get a better cardio aroibic workout on a trainer too... more like what I am doing on the road or in a race... and am much more motivated.

I agree, I think that a wind trainer would overall benefit you more because you are actually on your bike and training. The one I have was only $130.00 and I love it. Also spinning bikes are great too.
