The cyclometer on my bikes work just fine, but I'm wondering if there's a good app (hopefully free or at least cheap) that enhances the cycling experience by keeping track of my route, and maybe other handy features. I'd like to hear what apps you recommend. Thanks.
imapmyride is free. I can barely get 3 hours of battery time when its running. So I don't bother anymore.

I reccomend Endomondo
+1 I use Endomondo to track all of my workouts including bicycling. It is free, easy to use, set up and install. You also get your own personal page on the Endomondo site that is also free.
I have several but the ones I use daily are endmondo & strava. If you're just looking for the basics, Endomondo is probably the better choice. Both are free, although after a few rides, I did upgrade to the pro version os fendomondo for $4, primarily to get the elevation tracker. I'd say download them both & give them a try.
Edit-I didn't mean for this to sound like Endomondo is a lite version so Strava. They are both great apps, they just do different things & endomondo tends to be better IMO at displaying the basics.

I have Cyclemeter as my main app I have been using. I just downloaded Endomondo and trying it out, it also looks quite good. I have map my ride also but like Cyclemeter better.
Of course I have the mapping app that comes with the phone and Google (my map). I really like to keep MotionX GPS on the phone also as it doesn’t require connection for the GPS to display maps as they can be downloaded in advance. Some people don’t know that the iPhone refreshes the maps as you go and when you get into a poor connection area maps will load slow or not at all. Programs like MotionX are a good fix for that. If you don’t have that type of a app you can view maps in advance of the area you know is a problem and the phone will keep that map in a temp file for a few days. Little trick I didn’t know that comes in handy.

I use iPhone/Runkeeper to track my rides with GPS. The website is nice, app is simple. I haven't tried any others for comparison purposes though.

Strava for me. I particulary like the segment feature. I can see all 30 times I have hit a local climb and whether or not I am seeing improvement on it.
