Today, in glorious Spring sunshine I got back on my Trek for a short ride. This was the first one since my disastrous tumble down a flight of stairs last October. It felt GOOD!
Feel like a cat with nine lives. Suddenly I am young again. Yes, I did avoid speed trials and hills but the important thing is I thoroughly enjoyed it and now I have a whole season to cycle. By the way, I did not have my computer on the bar and although I intend to install it I no longer care about annual mileage or worrying about my average speed.

Great to see you riding again, and amen!!

Hoping on the bike always makes a body feel young again. Except those times when it doesn't.

Most riders I know take a hiatus once in awhile. Nothing wrong with this, other than you have to ride out the kinks the first few rides.

When I read your wife's description of your injuries, I wondered if you ever get back on the bike again. I am so happy to hear you are riding again! Good for you! Enjoy this great weather.

It's great your back ridding again. I went through a season of not so much ridding due to health issues, but as you say its great to be ridding again.
Glad to hear you are up and running again. I was worried when we had not heard from you
Good stuff. Cycling is the elixir that heals the spirit!

Had 6 months off the bike around the bypass time and I took it steady and trained up slowly. Did a hard 40 miler 3 months after the bypass and felt fine-----Till after the ride. I was fit enough to do the ride- albeit a bit slower than usual but I was fit enough. Then 5 minutes after I finished I sat on a bench to change shoes to drive home and Shin Splints. Boy did they hurt and I never want them again.
So come back steadily and build up the Muscles by cross training. Walk- Down the gym- swimming but whatever you do- build those muscles up before you try the hard rides.
And glad to see you back.

Thank you all for your kind remarks. Today I followed it up with a 12 mile ride at a leisurely 9.5 mph speed. Which is exactly 9.5 mph faster than Monday when I just thought about it.Serously, I must have worked out harder on the ship than I thought.Did not even work up a sweat. Life is good!
