Mountain Biking - comfy bike seats?

any one know of any good seats

I ride on a Kona Grand Prix SDG Saddle, I'm a big guy and as long as you have your seat fitting underneath your properly it's comfy...the first few rides after not being on a while will most likely kill you though

A lot of people seem to love the new Fi Zi' k saddles.... Specialized makes a Body Geometry saddle in varying widths that may suit you pretty well.

Yeh, the specialized Body Geometry and the geometry 2 saddles are really nice...

I've actually been looking into one myself... Mine has a Body Geometry Sport, which isn't TOO bad but I'd rather have one of the nicer ones that comes in varying widths so it will fit my ass better. The Fizik Arione is nice, but looks to be a bit too expensive for my tastes.

is that the stupidly expensive 230 dollar saddle at the LBS Cryo?

got a new seat today... bontrager cant remember exact model but it is NICE... i havent been on long ride but it felt comfortable on the street for a minute or two

N E one try the Bontrager BIG EARL? Its grey/black and orange, I bent my old Bontrager and I have been looking at this one as a rep.

i cant seem to find that seat on their site.. but i now know that i have, its the fs2000.. very comfortable

As mentioned about, Specialized makes some nice saddles. So does WTB (a few people swear by them) and Bontrager makes some nice stuff as well (also mentioned above).

So pretty much all I had to add was WTB :P

plenty, but you'll get a ton of different answers.

best is to go to whatever your local shop is, if possible. sit on as many different seats there as you can before you decide to buy.

we can all tell you what we use, but that doesn't mean any of our seat suggestions will work for you and your butt.

that said, i've got these on four of my five bikes. i've tried many seats over the years, and just recently found this one. more comfy than anything else i've tried, for me.

glad you asked...I have a perfect combo of seat and Schwinn cover for my bike now. It's not the most attractive thing to look at but it's functional.

My favorites are Selle Italia SLR, Serfas Stinger, Selle Italia flight, Fi'zik Arione and Aliante.

All this talk about butts!! Try WTB it werked fer me. :D

Also, you have to look at how much you're willing to spend..the higher end Specialized BG saddles and the Fiziks are well over $100... The nice thing about the Arione and Gobi is that they have the "slats" cut into the shell to allow them to break in and conform to your butt. They've gotten rave reviews, but they're not cheap. Definitely a bit out of my price range.

$125 for the Ti and plain black model. The ones with different colors and full carbon rails/shell are about $230-$240 I think.

I have two of the Ti models, one on each road bike and I use a Gobi on my mtb. I like them, definately not cheap but they are very comfortable and feel good on 50+ mile rides.

yeah...forget that. Maybe if I rode 100+ miles a week

It is worth it to spend more money on a saddle to get the one that is most comfortable. The saddle is where you are going to have the most contact with the bike so you want it to be as comfortable as possible. The saddle is the one component you should not compromise on.
