Finally saw it this weekend. Unbelievable. I always knew that there was extreme poverty in the favelas but had no idea this level of violence was going on. Totally crazy, especially the young age of some the people involved in this stuff. The DVD extra had a 1 hr documentary on the situation there. A total eye opener for me. What really got to me were the comments made by the Rio police chief. He made so many interesting and insightful comments about Brazillian society and the situation these people are in. He seemed utterly defeated.

i wasn't crazy about the style of the film. too many quick edits, weird angles, and artifical colors. it felt like an mtv video at times. however, the content was interesting. i'd say it's worth viewing.
