BMX - stem opinions

in the process of building up my new BMX, to be used for mainly street, and dirt jump/trails occasionally.

im trying to decide on a stem, leaning towards the primo casket. anyone have any problems with this stem, or opinions on other stems? i dont want a super heavy duty one, bc im not super hard on my equip..

The various Rednecks are the most reliable stems, ever. I don't run one anymore (at the moment I have a Kink Raider), but I can say that I had only one problem with them in five years of using them, and S&M replaced the stem.

anyone have any experience with this odyssey elementry stem? pretty crazy if you ask me, dunno if id trust it...

I haven't ridden with it (nor plan to, since I have no reason to replace my current stem at the moment), but it's been tested for two years, is a G-Sport design (read: quality), and plenty of people have been riding them with very few problems so far. As long as you install them according to the instructions, they should work fine.

i've heard of one breaking but it wasn't installed correctly. or rather, it sounded like the steer tube wasn't long enough for it. user error.

when I need a new stem and have the cash, I'll get this stem.

if the steerer tubes are to short the stem will elementary stem will break. Also its a great stem but you have to no when to stop tightening it because it will tighten until you snap it in half, this is so you can adjust to your preference. I'm going to buy on as soon as possible.

Considering the fact that it has a page of very specific instructions and a very specific warning on it stating just how much steerer tube you need exposed, only an idiot could break that stem when installing it.

I have the kink cross bolt and have for about 4 years now with out one problem ever.

You don't need 60mm; you need 36mm, and 38 or more is recommended.

Yes, detanglers will work with a Standard stem when it's upright; if you invert it, you might need to take a metal file or Dremel to it in order to get it to fit.
