Hello,

I am trying to determine the value of this bike, and if I should purchase it or not. It is a 54cm(not sure) Centurion Iron Man Dave Scott "expert" model, I believe. The seller tell me it is his dad's first bike. When asked if the components are Shimano 105, he says the brake system is, and he's pretty sure everything else has not been changed. Seller says he rides it here and there, and is maintained. I did not get a chance to look at it, yet. He is selling it for $150. Here are some pictures:

I currently ride a fixed gear bicycle, and this would facilitate my ride when I cruise with my cousin's carbon fibre Trek. Is it a steal at $150?

Yep - that's a good price. Somewhat cult-ish following.

What do you mean by cult-ish following?

If it is in good mechanical shape, great price! Don't think his dad would be too thrilled... if he knows about it.

Cult-ish following? Ask any old folks who around in the late '70s and early '80s about the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
That had a cult-ish following. Centurion owners just know a good thing when they've got it.

In pretty much any market, $150 is a deal, in CA, its a smokin hot deal. If it is being advertised publicly, I would be surprised if it is not gone already. If so, look for it to reappear in a week or two at $325.

Buy It, it's a good price in SoCal. I have the same bike and it's a sweet ride. I sold a "Miami Vice" Centurion in Dec. for $225, it was in good condition, good tires, ready to ride.

Go buy this bike. Yesterday. Today it is probably gone.

I will be giving it a test ride tomorrow. I was told it is ride-able, but it needs a tire change. Is there anything I should know about this bike besides the fact the gear shifter is on the frame?

Not meaning to offend, but there are literally thousands of posts on this forum about Centurion Ironman roadbikes, both Expert and Master. The only thing to know is if it is decent shape and it fits you, buy it. If it doesn't fit, I'd still buy it, clean it up and double my money.
