I think it's a bit pricey. But I'm no fan of track frames.

An eighties top of the line Miyata track bicycle frame set for $500.00 seems pretty darn good to me, considering that it is new old stock.

x2 Track frames seem to fetch a premium. Even if it wasnt NOS it would still be a good price.

This guys shop is pretty nice. Lots of nos stuff. He mentioned going europe every once and awhile and bringing back shipping containers full of bikes. Be prepared to get your ear talked off though, dude seems to have a story for everything.

oh lol I meant if I built it up with say Shimano 600 groupset to ready to ride condition. Is there much profit that can be had for it?

It's a track frame, there is no shimano 600 track group. To build it up properly would cost more for the individual parts + frame than the end-bike was worth, imo. I would put some shimano or sugino track cranks on it, some dura ace or phil wood track wheels, nitto bars & stem, a nice seatpost and saddle, and ride it.

You realize this is a track frame right? Meant to be fixed gear only with no provision for brakes or derailer gearing.
I don't see a profit either building the bike up and selling it. That's the most expensive way to do it, but the frame sure is nice.

No offense Phaseshift, but these questions and your other recent ones suggest that even if there is a way to build this up and sell it at a profit, you are perhaps not the one to do so, due to lack of experience, and or course supplies.
Really no offense meant--I am not that person either as I don't have the parts on hand nor have I built up a track bike before.
Is it worth more built up as a track bike for racing or for street use, or converted to conventional use with brakes, etc? The latter way would be more practical, but drilling would be involved, with the potential for damage...also of course it would no longer be original so likely that's a negative in terms of future value esp with such a prime example.
To someone really familiar with that type of bike it might be a slam-dunk at $500. To someone not so familiar, it might be a fun project but almost certainly not profitable if sold.

If making a profit on the frame set is the goal, do not build it up. Do not bolt anything on the frame or mar the finish in any way. Resell is as NOS top of the line track frame and my guess is that you will do just fine.
Were it me, I would put the bike on Ebay with a pretty high price tag, a whole bunch of good pictures and some facts, defining the size, condition and what ever else can be offered to buyers that can help them make a purchase decision.

I think your questions suggest: If you could build this up to maximize the profit, you wouldn't ask these questions. If you hang inappropriate components on that frame it's value will go down. This is a flip for a pro.
