John Lennon's music isn't classified as "oldies", he wasn't poor by any means, and he was shot.

Lots of things come to mind when I hear the name "John Lennon":
Beatles
Paul McCartney
My Life
Give Peace a Chance
Yoko
Imagine
Sgt. Pepper
Mind Games
I thought Lennon was great.
What does NOT come to mind is murder or David Chapman.

Seems a fairly logical progression of thought to me. Sure, Lennon was shot, but Buddy Holly, Ritchie Vallens, and JP "Big Bopper" Richardson did all die in a plane crash together on February 3, 1959. I can see how thinking of dead musicians from the second half of the 20th century could lead to thinking of this.
Anyhow: Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, experimental installation art
The first thing that popped in my head was:
The Beatle who got shot.

First thought: "You can be my Yoko Ono. You can follow me where eeevvvvvveeerrrr I go. Be my. Be my. Be my. Be my Yoko Ono..." ~Bare Nekkid Ladies.
Second thought: "We live in a country where John Lennon takes six bullets in the chest. Yoko Ono is standing right next to him. Not one f*****g bullet! Explain that to me!" ~Dennis Leary
Of course, I have many positive thoughts (one's that don't involve Yoko) about John as well. The Beatles rocked. I'm sure I've got at least three times as much Beatles music in my collection as any other group.
