DENVER - It is a very popular bike path that winds along the Platte River near Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

The guy ran into a line between a fisherman and his fish, lost control and crashed. The fisherman called 911. It wasn't malicious.

Again, read the story before flying off the handle. The fisherman wasn't casting. He was dealing with a hooked fish. I'm not privy to all of the details but I have seen fisherman along this stretch of the Platte fly fishing. Everyone of them that I have seen go out of their way so that they don't interfere with cyclists (and walkers) on the bike path, especially when casting. He may have had to go up and over some obstacle as he was fighting the fish and may have stepped out onto the path to do that. The bicyclist ran into his line, for whatever reason, and lost control. Technically, the fisherman is a pedestrian and he has the right of way over the cyclist. Walking the multiuser path to catch a fish that you have hooked is on the far end of the 'multi-user' concept but he was still, technically, a pedestrian.

Yeah, I caught that (sorry for the bad pun). Essentially, the fisherman was the same as one of those dog walkers with a very long retractable leash (only this one you can't see and is at head height). Sure the cyclist should have slowed down when saw a dude with a fishing pole, but the fisherman also should have watched where he was. At least he called 911 rather than just leaving.
