Hi, new to the forum so hope I don't make a mistake. I'm trying to obtain the value of a 1978 Schwinn Superior 10 speed. I bought it new in 1999 at the Schwinn Shop in Peoria IL. It does not have the original tire, handlebar tape or seat. The paint is about 97%. It's a metallic red. Haven't measured the frame so don't know the exact size. It's also missing the toe traps but the original pedals are there. I believe all the hardware is correct. Anyone willing to give me an idea on the value? Overall I'd say its in Good to excellent condition. Could use a good cleaning and be tuned.

Did the bike sit in the Peoria Schwinn shop for 21 years before you purchased it?

Given the sketchy details, I would discount it 50% from market. Need to have crisp, accurate information, with great pictures, if you want to get anything close to market. If not, you will get a small fraction, and then there is a good chance that the buyer will fill in the gaps, and sell for double the amount. That's just the way it works. Buyers have no imagination.

Check recent completed auctions on ebay for ideas on market value.
