I own a vintage Peugeot bicycle and I am making some upgrades.
The bicycle has french threaded headset and bottom bracket.
I want to replace them with new ones because they are a little rusty and I don't want to paint them.
The problem is that it is very difficult to find french threaded bicycle parts and also very expensive in comparison with the majority of the lately constructed parts.
I also don't want to make new threads on the frame in order to use an engilsh threaded b.b e.x.
Could I use threadless headset and bottom bracket on this frame, without touching it's french threading?

To use a threadless headset you will need a new headset, fork and stem. I assume that French press in headsets use the same cup OD as ISO heasets so that shouldn't be a problem.

There are still French threaded bottom brackets available so that isn't too much of a barrier.

It's not impossible to find a reasonably priced Freanch headset.

you'd need a new fork either made with a threadless steerer or a threaded steerer that is much longer than what you have currently (to use the unthreaded section below the threads). I'd track down a french threaded headset.

Velo Orange has a French threaded bottom bracket, $50, and a French threaded headset, $30.
