Hi all,

I have a Nexus-8 hub, and I am planning on getting bullhorn handlebars with a JTek bar-end shifter (http://jtekengineering.com/jtek_bar-end_shifter.htm) to go in the end. The JTek site says that it has a "24mm & 22.2mm clamp-on design."

So I found a pair of bullhorns (http://www.crowcycleco.com/see-it-all/bullhorn-style-bicycle-handlebars-black-31-8-clamp-straight.html) that look quite good, and they say they are "24mm bars for 25.4mm (1") brakes."

What exactly does that mean? Will they fit a 24mm clamp or not?

Also, slightly more off-topic, does anyone have good recommendations for picking out bullhorn handlebars? So few of the bike shops around here carry them that it's hard to get a good feel for what dimensions/styles are good, and I can't find any guides online.

You should ask the seller , they can measure things.

might be a good time to pick up a caliper so you can measure too.

I'm guessing it's a mis-print. The standard outside diameter of drop and bullhorn bars is 23.8 mm (nominally 24 mm), except where it clamps to the stem where it can be 25.4 mm, 26.0 mm or 31.8 mm.

The Jtek shifters clamp on the outside of the bar at its end and work with drop/bullhorn (23.8 mm) or flat bars (22.2 mm).

As for choosing bullhorns, it's a personal preference thing. I prefer them to be as wide as my drop bars and with relatively short extensions so that the reach approximates where brake lever hoods would be on drop bars.
