Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - April edition "Running Total"thread. Log your running/jogging/walking miles here!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This will be a a trial to see if there is enough interest in a monthly tread, but we'll see how it go's. The purpose is to log all your running, jogging, walking or any other thing like elliptical mileage here. Also, any general questions that someone might have about the above activities could be addressed. So get those shoes on and hit the road running. :)
I'm in. Been off the bike for two years due to work, etc. Gained 20 lbs, when I really couldn't afford to gain any weight, so now I am job searching and hoping for that perfect job that let's me stay on my bike.
Today first ride, 9 miles. Butt not as sore as I expected, but lungs were not great, and my legs felt it a bit. Goal for this month isn't great, but hoping I can do more than 100 miles this month.
Will give it a try,
just got back from park, did 3 120yd runs on the soccer field, total distance 360yds running and 360+ yds walking. Faster than last week.
I keep track of hiking time but distance would be tough. Is tracking time here suitable?

I just ran my first ever race yesterday, a 10k and finished in 67:48
I was happy. Actually very happy for me...that's much better than I expected.

Absolutely! Anything to do with running or running related is welcome here. The purpose is to encourage each other and share our high (and low) points. :)

I am going to try this because when traveling running is easier to figure out than biking, but I've run very little so I am going to do a run/walk thing based on time rather than distance. I'll see what I can report. My goal is to run/walk 20 to 30 minutes a day three days a week.
EDIT:
April 2: 1/2 hour brisk walk/run, alternating 90 seconds to three minutes.

Will try to keep up posting distances in ths thread for the month.
5 miles last night...was in Richmond va and went and ran the trails along the James at reedy creek. Was a very nice system. I would go there again for sure.
Off to Miami, going to try and run on the beach tomorrow night :)
April 2: 20.4 mile ride, 1:17:30
Tonight will be a half mile walking and 2.5 miles running.

Ran somewhere between 3 and 3.3 miles last night. Run Keeper is notoriously inaccurate and gmap straightens things out so the true distance is in between those two numbers. I usually track my miles in run keeper, but there's also daily mile and other sites to track mileage, time, pace, elevation, etc.

Great thread, more suitable to me.
1/4: 4 miles (Football)
2/4: 1 mile (Cricket sprint drills)
Total: 5 miles
I can't do long distance running due to my hips, so all of my running distance comes from short sprints at football or cricket.

This brings up an interesting thought, is a lose shoe lace the equivalent of a flat tire on a bike. If it is, should you carry a spare shoelace just in case you blow one out. OK, maybe not a very interesting thought, but I am bored at the moment. :p
Anyway, great job so far everyone. Keep it up. :thumb:

Finely, a break in the weather, so I went out on the road tonight. Ended up with 5.4 miles in just short of 45 minutes. Total to date for the month, 10.8 miles.

Legs felt good on walk which was good. Last nights group ride was a bit tough, spent 90 minutes at an average HR of 87%max. May not make it to my 55th birthday this summer at this rate.

6 more today. Even after coming back up from sea level to 4700 ft, I didn't lose too much pace. Slowed from a race pace last weekend of 10:55 to 11:17 today.
I was glad however it was only 6. Have to do 10 next Saturday, and that will be at a much slower pace.
Only a few weeks left u til the half marathon, am kinda scared and excited all at the same time. I am estimating my completion time to be around 2.5 hours, and I have never run that long...ever. Kinda scary.

April 11: 20 minutes of run/walk, another 25 of mostly walk and a little run. Don't know how far. Had a stomach ache the whole time and it was pretty much an effed up experience. I wanted to bike but I was too cold.

Too much of a PITA to track as I walk every day to get around town (e.g., walk to work, walk to have lunch in the park, walk to the gym, walk to the grocery store, walk to happy hour, walk home, walk to the movies), sometimes 5 miles a day or more. Last month we walked about 6 miles round trip to have dinner. I also use my bike to get around and don't feel like being bothered keeping track of the miles. Then there are weekend road rides. I also use the eliptical when I go to the gym.
I get around a lot by my own power. That's what's important to me, not the actual stats.

Put in another 5.3 miles tonight, but I slowed down some due to my gut hurting for part of the run. Also, need to put in a small make up run for the one I missed earlier in the week. It kind of messed with my schedule missing one day, but sometimes life gets in the way. :(

Man I needed to give the hammies a rest. . I hadn't been sore for almost six weeks and finally blammo. So I've taken now two days off in a row. I need two more miles this week to stay on pace. . . Two miles. . that's just a warm up. . . just a warm up.

Did a 5.5 mile run tonight with a little surprise . I was just about a mile into my run when I looked over and there was a guy running right next to me. He looked at me and said, "God, you were hard to catch". We chatted for about the next mile or so and I found out he was an experienced marathon runner training for an ultra. It made me feel good about my running pace at least, even though it was a little slower tonight.:)
