OK, so I have tried the usual suspects, Nashbar (doesn't look promising), derailleurhanger.com, wheelworks. The bike is actually called a Nashbar Flashback produced in 1996 only. I need the derailleur hanger. All leads appreciated.

NB: there are over 300 different replaceable derailleur hangers.

I recently went through this with a Vitus 992.
You can:
1 - Find someone with a derailleur hanger to sell, usually because they have a broken frame. Not likely at all if your bike model was made for only 1 year and the hanger is unique to that model.
2 - Find the closest match hanger that is available, and modify it to fit. Drill mounting holes in the correct place, file away some metal, etc.
3 - Get some aluminum plate and make a hanger by hand. Aluminum of 1/8" thickness (or whatever is the closest match) is fairly easy to cut with a jigsaw.
4 - Have a waterjet cutting place make a replacement hanger. You measure up the old hanger, draw it up in a CAD program, and they load the file in their machine and cut the piece.
I did #4. If that hadn't been an option, I'd have done #2. It doesn't have to be pretty. You just need these things to be correctly located: mounting holes, the notch for the axle, the hole for the derailleur, and the tab or hook that the derailleur's B screw sits on. Cut away whatever material inteferes with thr hanger fit in the frame. Derailleur hangers only cost $10 so it's not a big deal to buy one and try modifying it.

They supply the big wholesalers such as Quality Bike. All bike shops do business with Quality and others.
Go there and look for your hanger and then order from the LBS. LBS also carry a chart that is the same on the website.

I just went to derailleurhanger.com and their website lists Wheels Manufacturing as one of their suppliers.
