DH and I had planned to go 2 weekends ago and got childcare all lined up and everything, but we got rained out. So tomorrow was our next opportunity. I'm so excited to finally try to the e-bikes I've been researching. I have learned a lot about watts, torque, in-line motors vs. hub motors, brakes, styles, brands and all, but I have never actually EXPERIENCED an e-bike, which is the big issue--will it be fun to ride? Will it be something I do every day with pleasure or will it be something I end up leaving in the garage (in which case I don't want to buy one of course).
I'm going to try out the Kalkhoff Tasman, the Kalkhoff Pro (possibly smoother shifting going up hills but not as upright and comfy a ride), Kettler Twin, Ohm Urban and, just in case, the BH Emotion Volt (folding ebike).
I'm happy for any advice as to how to test ride these and what to ask at the store. I'll take them out to steep nearby hills (checked the grades already and mapped out a route). It's a specialized ebike store in SF, so they should be quite knowledgeable about what works and what will suit me.
I'm hoping I can RENT the bike I like best to make sure it's really worth the huge price to me.
