i feel like i lost today. couldn't get the fixed cup out of a steel frame. soaked it in pb blaster and liquid wrench. hammered the snot out of the fixed cup. got the big guns, kingsbridge bb tool. tighten it down, locked it in the biggest vise in the shop. tightened the bb tool some more with an 18in adjustable and cheater bar. turned the frame with 2 people and the cup just slips in the tool. i also tried the sheldon cheapo method with a 5/8 fine pitch grade 8 bolt and an impact gun but the lock washers to space it out would just spread. gonna try running a nut down for a spacer next time. ended up just overhauling the bb. could have used some heat but frame was not worth it, just a cheapo raleigh steel frame mtb from the late 90s or so.

No chance you guys were twisting the wrong direction?
That sucks, either way. :(

They have more sharp tips and really grip. In one extreme case, I welded a 24mm nut onto the BB-cup and got it off with my impact-gun set to full 1000-lb*ft torque.
