Fifty Plus (50+) - My God, did you guys see this picture in Bicycling?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

She was a cutie. How about the naked chick in a tub full of bike parts? I was thinking: "Don't move!"
Hell, now my wife's going to be after me to get a tandem

Yes that one too. This issue is still a keeper. What was Steve Madden (Editor) thinking? Must have had a brain fart for just a second and that photo got past him. :)

Good point - I didn't notice that. LOL :D
It looks like that's the most fun she's had with her old man in a long time.....

Actually I don't think her old man has anything to do with her smile!
Now that's being in touch with your saddle :D Notice the geezer is wearing socks - like that's going to help in a crash and burn

I wonder what he has got in the backpack--going on a picnic maybe? I thought it was really cute, don't think my husband and I will do it though.

It looks like that's the most fun she's had with her old man in a long time.....Must be the cobblestones.
Nice looking bike. Must be English with the mudguards/fenders. Anyone know what the frame is? Thorn maybe? Interesting it also runs the timing chain on the right side. MarkL, what say you as resident tandem expert?
(Well... you've got to divert your eyes, haven't you!!)

Saddles? I don't see any saddles!
Amusing, but still not enough to entice me back for a subscription to bicycling. Maybe I'll get lucky and someone in the 50+ will share the occasional gem with us.

I remember two things about that ride - very clearly:
- I said "Mary, are you SURE we have enough sunscreen?"
AND
- I said "Mary, are you SURE your sister is taking this photo just for our family album?"

They should be fined for taking their clothes off in public.

Point is: That has GOT to be painful!!!! :(
I saw it in the magazine, what a hoot (not to be confused with what a hooter). I showed it to my 12 yo daughter, who looked it over then sain "I'm sure glad I'm not where they are going!"

Trouble is... she is.
And as a Dad, you should have pointed that out to her. Just so she realises there are other people who live in this world other than herself....
This is the picture that got me excited. ;) It's from the March 2005 issue of Bicycling.

As a 12 yo with parents both in their fifties, I think she has a pretty good idea. lol
Gosh! she's 'laffing her head off and yes the pic in bicycling mag was a helluva alot
lighter. None the less who are they? and who cares? If this offends you I suggest you NEVER ! EVER! show up for the Solstice Parade in Seattle ( Fremont)
June 18th & 19th 2005 . you could potentiallly see many beautiful and or
ugly cyclists in the nude

Not at all!!! ;) They are riding Brooks B-17 saddles that have been well broken in, so they don't need to wear underwear with their bike shorts, heck they don't even need bike shorts with a chamois on those saddles. I believe they are at mile 95 of a climbing century with 7,000+ feet of climbing. They are riding without clothes because it makes them more aero, and the rear rack helps their speed by acting as a rear spoiler, pushing down on the rear tire for more traction on technical descents.

Actually, I'm taking a tongue-in-cheek pot shot at many of the "points" made about cycling on these forums, mostly on the "Road Cycling" forum.
Believe me, if I rode without clothes, it would make those two in the picture look like 20 year old models.
