Looks like I've had a bit of a relapse with sciatica....

Things had been progressing positively for the last month or so, albeit slowly. That is until this morning. I've been slowly ramping up the riding in the last 5wks (minus the 26hrs in Georgia) and everything had been ok.

The riding was not adversely affecting the sciatica and I was seeing improvement. I was getting dropped everywhere, but I felt better and actually felt pretty strong yesterday.

After the ride yesterday I was a bit more sore then normal, but not totally out of the ordinary. Felt ok this morning, actually better then I expected. I had used the foam roller yesterday evening since my legs had been feeling tight for the last few days. I used it again this morning and again felt pretty good. Then I headed for the shower and bent to pick up my PJ's...That's when all hell broke loose! Felt a sharp sciatic pain down my leg and then everything tightened up again.

Still feeling it now in the PM and am really starting to wonder if I will be able to race at all this year. It's not like I'm good by any means, but I do enjoy it and the fact my wife does it too adds to the enjoyment.

My real problem right now is coaching...

I'm paying for a coach, but I really wonder if it's worth it at this point. Since I know all I really should be doing is riding anyway...

I don't really want to ditch the coach since my wife uses him and I consider him a friend, but right now it's kind of like I'm throwing cash into the wind...

This has truly been a craptastic year and a half...

sounds to me like you should pay an orthopaedist, chiropractor, and physical therapist instead of a coach.

Hopefully you get some good answers from that.

Any coach should understand that if you have a health condition that is preventing you from achieving goals that suspending their services is nothing personal. All the more so if you're friendly with them.

MRI's are great, but the majority of people have disc issues, degenerative or trauma related, of some kind. its not abnormal in any way. good luck. later.

I would think that your friend who is a coach would understand. Good luck.
