Hi... I've recently pulled a few English 3-speeds from a my local picker buddy... Royal Essex men's 3-speed and a Royal Enfield woman's 3-speed. I've been able to turn up very little or no information on-line about either of these companies as bicycle builders. I would guess the date of the Essex to be late 50's / early 60's and the Enfield mid-60's. Has anyone heard of these bikes before? Thanks. Pictures to follow.

Without googling, I can tell you that royal enfield motorcycles are still made and sold in India.

Yes... you are correct. There is quite a bit of info out there about the history of Royal Enfield motorcycles but I can't find anything about bicycles.
