There are two #4s on the map of my ride today and I am wondering why. The second 4 is where I had my first flat, dang radial tire wire. No big deal, just wondering.

The 4s identify categorized climbs. If a climb is long enough with enough vertical gain, Strava will automatically generate a segment.

Agree.

Isn't radial tire wire in your tire nasty? If the piece is small enough, it's really hard to find and can re-flat your new tube out on the road.

Why the number 4 as there are many segments along the way to that point with strava segments. You can check out the elevations.

Thats what happened to me and I am ashamed to admit that it isn't the first time either. I should have known better. On the second flat the only way I found it was to pinch the tire all around till I thought I saw something shinny, and investigated. It took a lot of coaxing to get the wire out as it was bent and under an 1/8 inch long.
