I'm riding a beautifully restored 1980's Razesa with the classic Super Record drivetrain and a Malliard 6 spd freewheel (not an ultra), 126 mm dropout.

Are there any good new non ultra chains out there?

Plus, is there a quick disconnect non ultra chain (like the new SRAM Powerlink chains) out there for this drivetrain?

Thanks for any guidance and tips on this.

Use a Sram 8 speed.

Thanks sydney.

I'm new to modern chain construction and application.

Can you recommend a model number and a place to buy one? I've scanned around and seen that most are ultra, with a wide price range.

Thanks again

Thanks againA pc 58 or 68. The 68 is silver and looks sexier. Try nashbar, performance, supergo, jensonusa or pricepoint. Any LBS should have one too.

Nashbar periodically has deals for 6-spd rated chains as well, but I still agree with the sram.

No powerlink but if you want a NOS type chain ebay usually has classic regina chains listed. Some people claim they shift smoother with the old drivetrans.

I second this idea....

If you want to keep it classic, get a NOS Regina Oro off ebay. Usually can be had for ~$25.

Thanks for the link DD

And thanks to all for the feedback.

I think I'll try the SRAM w/powerlink, mainly because I want to be able to clean my chain more effectively, and if it isn't shifting smoothly as the Sachs Sedisport I’ve had on the bike I’ll go with a new Sachs.

Thanks to all again. I'll let you know which works best for me.
