Pacific Northwest - looking for bike recommendations for Oly

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I tried the search function but it seems out of order for tonight.
What I am looking for: an internal gear hub bike for Olympia. I have an awesome 3-speed 1953 Raleigh, but I need a little more get up and go for the hills around this town. I am fine with a semi-custom (actually, I think that's what I want) but not sure where to look. I thought I wanted a Dutch bike, like WorkCycles, but when I rode one, it wasn't my thing. I want something fairly upright, with all the bells & whistles of a Dutch ride (fully encased chain, lights, a rack) but that moves up hills nicely.
Also, any shop recommendations here would be appreciated. The first place I took my bike to was a disappointment.

You could buy my 2008 Dahon Mu XL with the Alfine 8 speed hub, lights, racks and fully enclosed chain that is a great hill climber.

Go talk to the people at Oly Bikes, they have or can get what you are describing (like for instance all the Breezer commuters (http://breezerbikes.com/bikes/transportation)). Their hours are tight but it's worth it if you get in.
I really like them a lot so I don't mind that they don't discount anything like ever.

I will check them out this week, thanks. I know I have seen that place but not stopped in.

Went there today. Kinda doubt I will be back. They didn't have any IGH bikes in the shop.
Not sure what kind of money you are looking to spend but you might check out R & E cycles in Seattle if you are looking for a IGH.

I will definitely check it out, thanks! I will probably end up spending quite a bit. We are a one-car family now and I even though I love the one bike I have right now, I know I need something else within the year. I would love to find some places where I can test ride the bikes first. I've only ridden a few and not found what I am willing to put down a big chunk of money for yet.
