Ok, i'm new to this.....

FSA Crankset (ISIS)
FSA bottom bracket (ISIS)

Bottom bracket is installed. Trying to install crankset. Spindles are greased, bolt and washer are greased.

As far as I can tell from reading the ISIS spec, ISIS splines aren't keyed.

Cranks don't just slide on. I assume this is what this whole press fit thing is about. I can bolt down one 99% of the way but the drive side crank still has 2mm or more of spindle showing (before the blocker) and more muscle isn't making the bolt go. I figure i must be doing something wrong. Should i be using a rubber mallet to bang the cranks on and then tighten it down? Barnett's shows use of the rubber mallet earlier in the process but not later. Zinn never mentions a mallet, nor does the FSA instructions.

Gadfly

Somethin's quite wrong. Isis is supposed to be a tight fit, not an impossible fit. You must have a burr or a defective spline or something of that nature. The maximum force you should have to put down, yes maximum is 45 ft-lbs.

LBS finished tightening it up for me. Better leverage, perhaps a longer hex wrench and clearly more experience with how much resistance to expect.

I would admit that is kind of odd. My new FSA Crank and BB fit perfectly. The crank slid right on about 3/4 of the way, and slowly pressed the rst of the way with the steel bolt provided. Is it the cromo BB? If it was the Ti version, I would have scared to strip the threads.
