Someone smarter than me will chime in, but this looks like an off-brand pomotional bike, probably from the 1960s. If it's cheap enough and it's a real leather saddle in good shape, might be worth buying. Might be worth $100, mostly for the saddle.

Boy, the seller really oversells it (http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/bik/2947401779.html), doesn't he?

HERE IS ONE of the coolest VINTAGE road bikes I have found in a long time! This is the ONLY bike like this I have ever seen!

Translation: He's got no clue what it is.

Here is an original VINTAGE (serial number is 10682) men's 27" Olympic Sport "Tour de France" 10-speed road bike. It is in the original and very appealing white with Olympics color decals and factory paint. If you like RARE COOL original bikes, this may be a great bike for you.

It's an off-brand, but no one else has one, so there is that.

The bike has some great features like RACER center pull brakes, quick release front AND rear hubs, chrome tip forks, a LAMPLUGH Paris leather Saddle, SOLIDA 3-piece cranks, SIMPLEX front and rear derailleurs, SIMPLEX frame mount shifters, cool pedals, AND MORE! It has some nice looking handlebars tape.

Standard French kinda stuff, except for the saddle which I've never of that brand before. It if is in good shape, it makes the bike worth buying.

The chrome rims are straight and call for tires that are 27x1 1/4" (no tires or tubes).

He knows that if he invested money in tires and tubes, he would never get the money back out of it.

The bike is an original TEN SPEED and the gears do operate. Hand pin-striped, lugged steel frame is in nice condition and not dented or cracked. The hand controlled brakes are operable as well. (will need adjustment / cable replacement)

Again, he's not bothering to put any work into it.

DIMENSIONS The stand over height is approx 32". The distance from the floor to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 33". The distance from the center of the crank to the middle of the seat post clamp is approx 22". The center of the handlebar stem to the center of the seat post is approx 22". The bike will accommodate most any rider comfortably. The seat height is easy to adjust.

...provided the seat post isn't seized up.

It is not 100% flawless but is ok! The paint has typical chips and wear of a 30+ year old bike! The chrome is shiny but is not perfect.

Chances are it's more like a 40 year old bike... if it's only 30 years old, it's got very low end equipment on it for its age (only 5 speeds in the back, cottered cranks, etc.)

It is a great bike for restoration. Also would be a nice item to display in a shop, restaurant, rec room, sports bar, etc.

Probably not a great rider.

A great classic bike priced way less than a dime store bike that won't be around 5 years from now, much less 30+ years like this one! Please give this bike a good home and DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY.

Better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Yeah, no kidding. I'm surprised its priced "reasonably" and not being offered for $300-$400. Still, for $50 or $75, might be worth a shot. I just had never come across this name before and its pretty generic for a Google search.

If you can get it cheap enough, it could be worth it for parts. Are those Mafac Racer Brakes? And the rear DR is Simplex. Those rear derailers were known for having their Delrin jockey wheels disintegrate with time. If this unit is in good shape, it might be worth having it in your parts bin.
I have to admit when I saw that crank it was a turn off.

I don't care for the looks of the crank either , but if the seat is in good shape and the frame/wheels are straight , I'd pay 125 bones for it.

I like the shiny lugs (I'm a sucker for shiny things in general) but something about that first picture almost the fork and stem don't look quite lined up to me. I won't go so far as to say bent, but almost looks offset somehow. Could just be the angle, though.

I'd've absolutely got it for the saddle! From what i've heard Lamplugh were only around until the 50s.

They were an offshoot of the UK company, 1891-1896.

Enjoying the funny replies.

I would guess early 70's bases on the plastic "pie plate" and reflectors on the pedals.

Mafac was still using the old pattern "racer" in the early 70s. I'd guess mid or late 70s.

This looks like a lesser branded early 70's French bike. The closest thing I have seen to it is French made Flying Dutchman which from the pics seems nearly Identical. Around this time the French had a way of making cheaper steel lugged bikes look like they are worth a lot more than they are I see about one a day on CL that someone believes is really great bike but ounce you see past the pretty lug work their just a basic steel construction 10 speed. As is this bike is worth about $100 mainly for the parts the leather seat, Mafac brakes and simplex group if it's in nice shape and works.

70's bike boom bike. A bit better than a lot of the cheap stuff that came out of that era as there seems to be enough attention given to it's aesthetics with the chrome accents and the middling component choice available back them. Don't let the "pie plate" and reflector bother you too much as unless it was a top line/or pro level race bike, they all pretty much came with those out of the factory back then.
If you can buy this thing at close to UO8 price, I think it will be a decent buy.
