BMX - Tensoner clearance?

I've got a problem I have a 2004 Kink Freebird frame and the dropouts are so shallow that when I try and put my Primo Pro chain tensoner on it grinds against the prongs on my 16T freewheel. If I got a 14T freewheel would that lower the diameter of the prongs on my FW so that I would get the clearance that I need for putting on my tensoner?

You can't put a 14t freewheel onto the same hub that has a 16 tooth freewheel. You need a new hub UNLESS your hub is a flip-flop hub.

Can't you move your rear wheel forward in the dropout? Take a link out of the chain? Take half a link out and put in a half-link? You can go with different tensioners as well.... not if you have them already though.

Try putting a spacer between the freewheel side of the hub and the dropout, or chop the inside portion of the tensioner off.

try a 17 tooth freewheel it will only give you a little lower gearing ,faster take off's and it will bring your rear hub deeper into the drop outs or try a demolition lite chain tensioner.The primo could be cut down and still leaves enough threads to catch in order to tension your chain. thats the problem these days with the small drop outs.

I figured the 17 would bring the hub in deeper into the drop out and give him more adjustment I never seen a chain tensioner hit the teeth on the freewheel.??? He must be missing a jam nut.

I must have explained my problem wrong because it's not hittting the teeth of the freewheel its hitting the "pawls" I think there called. When I am looking at my rear wheel they're on the freewheel side farthest away from the hub. On my freewheel there are 4 of them, but in dans there are some with only 2. Sorry I'm not to good with rear wheel terminology(or spelling). I fixed the problem though. Once I put on my new 43T sprocket and my new chain it wasn't rubbing any more. Thanks for your help though.
