Road Bike Racing - Forum Racers?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Who here at the forum races?

I just started racing this spring. I race in the junior (17-18) categorey and the 4/5 category. So far I have been able to do 4 races, but I plan on doing a ton more. I haven't had so much fun in my entire life.

Hey you young bucks! I have shoes older than you.;)
Actually I'm so relieved that there are younger people entering the cycling world. We need more enthusiastic roadies and mountain bikers. This sport is getting too grey.
Keep up the good work and good luck on your races this season. Stay healthy and safe!

i do some racing... i'm in Germany now so i don't know the scene too well...
will mostly be doing MTB XC races, but most here in Germany are known as 'Marathons' and are less technical and longer (50-100km) both of which are bad for me since i'm a sprinter, climber, downhiller and technical rider... the long endurance, sustained-effort flats kill me --- on the road i draft but in MTB races there's often no one or no way to draft (although my 1st MTB Marathon race 2 weeks ago i drafted about 10 of the 50km)
i might do some more road mass start races but i don't know the scene...
was just getting into Track Racing 2 years ago in Portland but i haven't tried to ride the track here yet - i think there's one at the Olympic Stadium from '72 or whenever, but i haven't checked if it's open for the public or what - plus i don'T have a track bike (for $5 you could rent a track bike from the Portland club and then use your own pedals)
had planned to do a big race this coming weekend in Italy (Lake Garda 50km, 2500m vertical) but i've heard bad reports ---- there are like 3000+ riders in a mass MTB start and the start assignment is based on when you sign up (duh, no correlation with how fast you are) so i've heard it sucks b/c you can't even ride b/c of all the riders... in a race 2 weeks ago in Austria it was cold and wet and i did warm-up until 10 minutes before the start and then big bad surprise... about 1200 riders already at the start line and started near the back and spent the 1st 30 minutes passing about 800 people! no fun! i finished 124 out of 400 in my class but had no chance of winning after being so slowed by everyone at the start (the leaders were long gone) --- apparently they seed the top 50 from last-year's winners but that doesn't do me any good as i was in the US last year...
if i find a team i'll do some road racing, but otherwise i'll be doing 1-3 MTB races per month
