I just got a e-bike kit from ebay. Its a brushless gearless 36v 500w front wheel type. I got it all hooked up and ran with it for a while. I got back and took the battery pack out and realized one of the phase wires came undone. I think it ran for a while without a phase wire. Anyways I plugged in the phase wire lifted the bike up and hit the throttle, the wheel spun for a bit then the fuse blew out. After that I noticed the wheel wouldn't spin very easily. I don't know what is wrong.
What I can tell you is...
when the phase wires are disconnected from the controller the wheel will spin freely. When just the Blue and yellow phase wire is hooked up to the controller the wheel will spin freely but not with the combinations blue and green or yellow and green. If I power up the bike with everything connected the fuse doesn't blow until I hit the throttle a couple of times. The motor acts like it want to go on the release of the throttle but doesn't. I have opened up the hub motor and pulled all the wires out and everything looks well connected.
My fear is that a ruined the controller by just running with two phase wires but it is weird that it stopped working after I plugged in the third phase, and the controller still works with the throttle(it lights up the display). I took the controller out and everything looks fine, no burnt smells or bubbled caps.
The last thing is, I don't have the brakes hooked up that came with it(they are the type that stop the motor when they are applied).
Any thoughts?
