Well Gina was in no spirit to ride but she urged me to go ahead and ride without her. So I sent Aimee a message and asked if she would like to ride even though Gina would not be there. Yeah, I know Aimee is an animal on the bike and anything I can dish out she'll be right there smiling, and she was. Matter of fact, after a long 21.5 mile pull to the coast I let her take the lead, mistake. She picked it up and dropped me. She thought a third rider that had latched on was The Beanz. Oh well, I just cruised in the last 1/2 in alone. I tried to hop on a wheel but my legs said,"not right now right now" Ha ha!
At the coast the third rider from Cycling Connection introduces himself as Leonard. Cool dude, friendly guy! We rest a bit then head back to Yorba. Different start area since Gina was not with us today. I take the pull back to Edna then invite Aimee to the front. Mistake! She's doing well and makes it look so easy. Every time we hit an underpass incline she stands then accelerates. Darn it Aimee, would you sit down please! Ha ha! She makes it looks so easy, I hate that! But it's motivating ha ha! Good thing she did some running yesterday or she probably could have easily dropped my old fat arse!
Leonard dropped off at The Honda Center while we continued on down the road. Riding with Gina we usually stop more often, but today we rode straight through both ways. I'm not used to that anymore and I could swear I heard myself whimper a couple of times.
Oh by the way, sorry to the forum member I almost ran into on the wooden bridge. I'm pretty sure it was "Siran". I was looking back talking to Aimee as we approached the bridge. I swear I didn't see you till I heard someone shout "Beanz!". Hm, every time I make a stupid mistake on the bike, it involves a forum member ha ha! I need to watch myself! Sorry Dude!

Good on ya! I had an easier day I rode with a friend who concentrates on piling up miles not speed and he had already done 50 miles when we started so we ran at my pace except when I had to wait for him for 48 miles:D

Hey, any miles are GOOD miles!:D
Looks like a great ride Beanz. Today was indeed fantastic out there on the SART.
I didn't realize you start so far north. I usually like doing the Orange->Corona section of the SART more than going to the beach (cold, smelly, gangs, etc...)...should try going the other way every once in a while. I know you said you don't like it as much, but it really isn't that bad.

SART from the beach to Yorba Linda is exactly my weekend route. I love how naturey it gets after you pass Honda Center. One day I'll have someone drop me off at the end of the trail and do the whole thing one way.
Pic I took the other day at the end of the trail:

We've done Greenriver several times over the years. We used to start from Weir, Gypsum or Greeenriver all of 96-2009. But the heat is not nice to Gina so we switched courses a couple years back. We usually start from the Firestation (Orangewood) head inland to any of the three mentioned, then double back to the coast. This to avoid the heat in the afternoon for Gina. Last couple years been slacking but previous years we did Gypsum all year long.
I only started at Yorba today since Gina didn't ride. ;)

Beanz! Finally saw you again on the SART, but couldn't stop because someone needed to get their nails done. Hope to actually stop next time. :thumb:

I was out on SART today too! I promise, I'm not stalking you, Beanz. ;) My bro was working this week, but I was with some other people. We left late though, so I know for sure this time we didn't see you; it was definitely a great day to be out on SART though!

Beanz-
I always enjoy your posts. But I gotta ask....
How do you ride and take still pix and movies? Especially the movies. THey seem very smooth, without much jitter or bumpiness. And often they are looking behind you or to the side for extened periods.
I thought you were on a tandem when I first saw them!
So I'm wondering you you do it.
ALso, your pix/movies of the SART got me motivated to try it... so I signed up for the SIKAD ride next week. So if you see a fat old geezer draped over an old steel Trek looking like a Salvadore Dali clock.. it is probably me!

Vewwy carefully!:D...Nope, just holding the camera up and aiming over my shoulder. Sometimes I go for the shot that shows part of me just to capture the mood.:p

Riding with no hands helps if doing both, like this!

Last year I did a video for the Sikad ride for funzies and food. Louie asked me to make a video so I did then he hooked me up with two big plates of food. I might do it again this year. :D

Well you sure have the artform down pat Beanz. Good show.
I first heard about the SIKAD ride from your vids; Louie et al seemed like low-key folks and it seemed like a good match for my low-horsepower performance...
So we'll see!

Always fun literally and figuratively running into you, Beanz! :P

Ah yeah, super cool people. Plenty of strong riders, many on the 62 hill ride. Lots of good riders on the SART course. But lots of just good ol riders having a good time. Some just chill ridin' out there and lots of food!:D

No, that is Aimee. Gina hasn't felt much like riding since her Dad lost his battle with cancer a couple weeks back. Sorry, frequent visits to the hospital over a 5 month period to visit her dying father did nothing for Gina's weight loss program.
