Commuting home yesterday evening I was amazed at how difficult it was to keep the bike moving. It was as though my tires were full of wet cement! I still did the extended fourteen mile route, but it wasn't pleasant.

Commuting home today it seemed as though I could fly if I had a mind to. I even added a few miles to the extended route!!

Strange thing, this old body of mine!!

A tailwind makes the day too, when you've known the headwind.

Some days you're the hammer, some days you're the nail.

The wind giveth, and the wind taketh away. Yesterday, it was a very lovely riding day around Boston, except for... The west wind. In some areas, it was quite strong. Riding into it on Beacon street, it just kept getting stronger. The area where Beacon street leaves cleveland circle, and goes around the chestnut hill reservoir is some sort of natural wind tunnel. It's always windy there, apparently just due to the layout of the land. Well, yesterday, it was like riding into a wall in that area. This of course, gives me an excuse to stand on my fixie and punch the pedals harder. Heh, I'm reminded of that Klingon saying, "the wind does not respect a fool!". Seems fair enough.
