Touring - Back from a week in Ireland

I just got back from a week of wet cycling in Ireland. Only one blowout and one crash to report...but nothing serious. It rained the entire time...except for the last day, but I still enjoyed myself. My Performance raingear worked fine, I only regret not having my cover booties or gortex socks. Just to note, you can store bike boxes in the Shannon airport. I camped out three nights and stayed in hostels the other nights. I loved having my life on my bike. I can't wait for the next trip. Thinking of Nova Scotia. I ran the Boston Marathon on Monday, hopped on the plane Tuesday, landed in Shannon, put the bike together, rode out of the airport for 65 miles and tented out...nearly froze. After that I found a hostel and drank a hot Irish coffee!

Good stuff.

The Guinness was superb, as usual. After a long day of cycling I needed the nutrition that a pint provides. The Irish coffees helped to warm me up! Going through culture shock now. Only two more months of work to go before summer break. What's my next cycling venture? I'm thinking Nova Scotia. I'm hooked!

Do you live in Alaska part of the year? I love it there. I can't wait to go back. I hope to go cross-country with my little 13' camper and hang out up there one of these summers soon. Unfortunately, the pets tie me down a bit. I looked at airfares yesterday to Anchorage and thought that flying my bike there might be a possibility this year. Nothing like camping out with the mosquitoes!
