My 91 year old mom was trapped in her house while it burned this past Thursday night. She sustained 3rd degree burns to her face, neck and shoulders as well as burns to her lungs and air passage which are the most serious. She has been in a medical induced coma since Thursday at UC Irvine Burn Center. On Saturday the family decided, as per her request in past conversations, to remove the ventilator tube which was keeping her alive and let her pass naturally. We decided to wait a day so other family members could come pay their last respects.
When we showed up to the burn center on Sunday she had shown some improvement and we opted to wait on the decision to remove the ventilator tube.
She will remain in a coma for at least four more days and the future isn't real bright but there is a glimmer of hope. She is well medicated and in no pain and all we can do is pray for her.
I know I am new here but if you are religious in any way I ask for your prayers, please.
Thank you,
Fernando
