I have an existing 700c ROAD bike that I am looking to convert to rear hub drive electric bike, but total cost is a major factor.
I am justifying the expense as I am hoping to reduce my $150 month gas bill from my daily drive to work and increase my bike training mileage. At this point I am hoping my ROI is less than 2 years...
I live in the midwest, looking for a flat smooth road cruiser with a goal of distance over top speed, based on that.
I am in my 40's and weigh 155lbs, I am active and fit, I normally swim, run and cycle 100 miles a week. I want to be able to get to work with getting all sweaty and ride home WITHOUT the elec assist for training workouts. My work commute is around 20 miles all flat smooth roads.
Basic kit to install on my existing bike.
Kit cost without shipping $1883.00
900w 10AH Geared rear hub motor mounted in a 36 spoke 700c rim
$699.00 for hub motor, 30a customer controller, thumb throttle
+$200 for lighter geared motor upgrade
+$20.00 for 36 spoke 700c rim upgrade
+15.00 for 9 speed freewheel
38v 10Ah LiFePo4 battery
2Ah charger
$699.00
Frame mount battery bag
$100.00
EBike Computer
$150.00

What are the Pro's and con's of this build? Does anyone have any feedback on this company? The search did not provide alot of insight or feedback one way or the other.
