hi all after commuting last year about 15 mile daily on a cannondale silk path hybrid with a fat seat and springs. i took off on some longer rider maybe 40 to 80 miles. i found the saddle to be very uncomfortable.
the last saddle i had for my road bike was a full leather one that required about a month of break in, but i could ride a 100 miles and no soreness. that was 15 years ago any advise on todays equipment. i know saddles are very person specific, but any general advise. thanks

They aren't cheap but: If you have used a leather saddle before and liked it, I'd strongly recommend one of the Brooks offerings. The people who use them remind me of the Jehova's Witnesses or Mormons on a mission.

I used to be a leather saddle guy years ago. But you should really look at some of the newer saddles that WBT puts out. They are very comfortable and come in a varity of sizes. For the past year I have ridden a WBT speed V on my commuters and commonly ride 30 + miles on them. This is a nice saddle that has some cushion but is still firm. The other one that I like came on my Marin road bike is a sella Italia XO. It is similar to the WBT line in that it is a bit wider and has some padding, but is not plush anbd spongy like alot of the comfort saddles.
