Triathlon - Best tri-bikes under US 1600$?

This is an open ended question, and it's been lightly covered in Triathlete magazine, but I thought I'd get the forumers opinions.

I would go with the Cervelo Dual, full Ultegra components, including drivetrian, Aero Profile, internal cabeling, adjustable seat angle, nice set of wheels to at 1499$.

Trek Equinox 7 is nice too, and has always had a good show in price-to-quality I think. Trek is a mix of 105/Ultegra parts I think, along with many good Bontrager parts.

...Am I the only one that thinks the QR Kilo could quite possibly have the ugliest paint job possible?



Hopefully I haven't targeted myself to flaming in my first post in this thread.

Obviuosly fit is the most important thing, but as a Cervelo owner, I think they are the best. I spent a long time researching and riding different bikes. The Cervelo was amazing. Weel engineered and it accelerated like a demon. Add to that the flexibilty of the reversible sit post, which allows you to go full tri or a more relaxed tri position if you are not flexible enough to go a full 78 degrees. Another that I was impressed with was the Felt, the S25 in particular in that price range.

I read in triathlete magazine somewhere that a girl won Long Course Championships (I don't think it was World Championships) on a stock dual, the only part she replaced was the rear wheel with a disc.


From looking around Dual and Felt seem to dominate this market.
