So when did Lutherans start using holy water? (I was raised in that 'faith', never saw it....)

I commented on the article; I think if there was a way to stage a 'funeral procession' to place a ghost bike, it would get more attention.

Interesting. They didn't do a very good job of publicising this -- I'm usually pretty aware of what's going on here in Austin cycling-wise and I didn't hear a peep about it.

I commented on the article; I think if there was a way to stage a 'funeral procession' to place a ghost bike, it would get more attention. The article mentioned Andrew Runcimen and his ghost bike. There was a large ride (http://cycling.frenzied.us/2011-04-30-Andrew_Runciman_Memorial_Ride/) (hundreds of riders) who rode to the unveiling of the ghost bike (and the ghost bike was brought on the ride), and the news did stories on it. I imagine that's exactly the sort of thing you were referring to, though it wasn't an actual funeral procession.

Though I imagine what really ought to be done is an actual funeral procession -- somebody makes a cargo bike to carry a casket, followed by hundreds of cyclists. *That* would get people's attention. Let's hope there aren't any more opportunities for such a thing in Austin for a long time.
