Hybrid Bicycles - Tire Size Difference?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Alright I still haven't gotten the bike. On my earlier thread you guys only added to my confusion as far as brands but it is a learning process and I thank you. I know I will be getting a hybrid and trying to stay under $700. Looking for speed even though I will mostly be doing city riding in beautiful Miami (without bike paths).
So, do tires make that much of a difference (and yes I know size matters), but to what extent?

Very simple. Thinner tires=lighter, more speed and faster uphill climbing. Fatter tires=slower, but more comfort.

Have you decided upon frame material?.... Does frame material make a difference to you?

I would like to get a light bike, so I was leaning towards a aluminum. I have read that carbon is lighter but also more expensive. I remember reading the steel is more comfortable but you have to worry about oxidation unless you dry it. I basically just want to ride...lazy that way.
