I have to go to Stamford, CT for work in mid January. I know absoutly nothing about Stamford. Where do the cool kids go? Where should I stay (part of town and low budget)? How is the tranist? Will I need to rent a car? Is there a place that will rent me a bike? I'll be going to Stamford via NYC; any thing I need to know?

i lived in hartford in for 4 years, hardly anyone there rode bicycles let alone fixies. all of CT's cities suffer from urban blight in the highest degree. i havent spent much time in in stamford but i imagine the case stands as such there as well.
