Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was driving over the Pass today and stopped at Hyak to check condition of the Iron Horse Trail; it looks as though a couple of 'melt' days will be needed before the tunnel is ready for bike riding.

I was just thinking of trail/tunnel since I did it last year and had good memories of it. Guess I will be thinking for a while longer.

Holy crap!
I made a mistake this weekend, and wound up in Easton. I was intending to ride from Cle Elum to Salmon de Sac, and I figured I could get off the freeway early, and save myself 30 miles of driving by starting the ride midway, and going in both directions. Turns out you can't get to either place from Easton, except on the Iron Horse Trail, or by freeway. Anyway, I wound up at Lake Easton, next to the trail, where it was about 85 F and the sun was beating down like nobody's business. That was exit 70; your pic is near exit 54? What a difference a few short miles (and some elevation) make!

SF, just a couple very short sections on the Iron Horse would have gotten you from Easton where you wanted to be via Golf Course Road and Leisure Ln to Bullfrog road. Probably better would have been to park at the high school off of 903. The Coal Mine trail between Cle Elum and Roslyn is also a nice leisurly ride in that area, easy enough if you have 28c or wider tires since it's gravel.

I wound up getting back in the car from Lake Easton (exit 70) and ... taking some later exit, I can't remember which one. As soon as I got off the exit, there was a big, dirt parking area, with a pickup truck parked in the shade, so I parked there. I think this is the beginning of Bullfrog Road? I followed it out and wound up 1/2 the way across Cle Elum Lake before I turned back, and finally found access to the shoreline at the southern end. I was on a road bike with 23s, but I need a cross or mountain bike. I'd love to explore more of the Iron Horse (I've done exit 38 to 63), and some of the trails in the Teanaway.
