Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Fixed coaster?

i just got this bike out of the trash. i put a new rear tire on it and flipped the bars. it is a coaster brake... is there any easy way to make this a fixed wheel?? i feel like i just need to "lock" the brake. anyone know if i can do this? thanks.

I kinda doubt there's a easy way, unless you have easy access to a brazing torch or welder, and are skilled using it.

Looks like it might make a pretty cool ride as is, though.

That bike is so sweet looking, I would clean it up and ride it as is.....(surprise surprise coaster brakes rock). It's hard to tell from the photos but it looks like a Sachs (or Fichtel & Sachs). Would it be possible to take a closer picture of the hub?? If it is a Sachs, and you take a welding/brazing torch to it.....I will find you....sacrilege 8-) Seriously, I would be interested in buying it (assuming it's what I think it is) if you really want to be fixed.

Nice bars. Yea I'd be tempted to keep it the way it is too. Fix something else...

i will take a closer look at the hub when there is more light out. there is a fitting on it. do i need to add oil or something to this? it was just too cool of a bike to get thrown out, its a fun little around town toy. i do have access to a tig welder and am rather handy with it... but maybe i will leave it coaster style for now, considering how much fun it is. thanks for the input so far though...

That little port dealie is a lube port. There probably is a little plastic cap that comes off, so you can out oil in it to lubricate the hub.

I'd be cleaning that up and riding her as a coastie.

Sweet find. Clean it up and ride as is. That handlebar is a keeper. I'd get a cheap modern saddle from the take-off bin at the local bike shop, that's it. I never find good stuff like your bike, just a rusty Peugeot frame with a bent fork.

I just noticed that the headbadge says that the bike was made in Czechoslovakia. Now I'm wondering if the hub is a Renak. Please do take a closer look when you get the chance. BTW where are you located?

i cleaned off the hub pretty good (it cleaned nicer then i hoped) but there seem to be no markings at all, so im not sure where else too look. i will get a seat for it soon and give it a good scrub down and cleaning. I am located in new brunswick, nj as some of you asked. just one more question... any idea of how old it looks?? i tried to google the brand name and cant get too much. thanks for all the feed back also.

Hmmmm, it doesn't say anything on the brake arm? ...the metal arm connecting the hub body to the left-side chainstay? As to the age, I really don't know. If the brake is a Renak then it's certainly post-WWII. I'd guess early 60's.
