Hey all,

I'm currently trying to ID a frame and on the rear tire inserts (on the rear part of the frame as well) there are Gipiemme markings.

My question is does anyone know about Gipiemme making road bikes in the 80s?

They didn't make bikes as far as I have ever seen. They, like Campagnolo and other companies, made dropouts to be brazed into frames. It's not a Gipiemme bike, but the drops indicate that it is probably a better quality frame.

Gipiemme dropouts on a frame usually means its something like a mid level model bike. Gipiemme stuff was usually considered as the "cost effective" alternative to the more expensive Camapagnolo frame parts and components. Nothing really wrong with Gipiemme, in fact some of their more uniquely designed components are starting to pull in big money in the secondary market, as for instance:

Gipiemme has also been known to have sourced lots of components from the French manufacturer, Simplex in the 80's and sold them as parts of their Gruppos after re-badging them.
