General Cycling Discussion - Why do I see Pac Man when I ride???

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Ok... So getting out and riding I have been noticing what actually is on and off the road as I am sure most of us do. So... I keep seeing these little Pac Man things on the road near intersections in the country. They look like Pac Man from the side view in the video game with three dots in front of him. They are always yellow and there never seems to be a logical connection to them at least from when I am riding. It is just weird :twitchy: and I am curious if anyone knows what they are. I will snap a pic the next time I see one. Oh, btw they aren't very big... Say the pac man is the size of a soft ball.

Do the dots point toward a fire hydrant at the intersection?
Are they Dan Henry bike route markings? Do they indicate what direction to go?
Likely route markings as noted above.

If this is something painted on the pavement, you should be able to find it on Google maps satellite images or, better, on their Street View. Post a link.

Sorry for not getting pictures sooner. These are just an example. Not always are there two of them together or any numbers with them.

Gotta be route markers, though they're different from your standard Dan Henries.

Looks like some club's or bike rally's markings, not any official route.
Here, it'll usually just be colored arrows.

I thought OP was going to be talking about seeing a lot of Cannondales out there. The logo on the head tube makes me think of pacman.

But those pics look kinda rural for that kind of stuff,..

Gas line or utility lines showing a connection . Crop circles made out of paint Or They are markings for construction crews for placement of new gas lines
Call the gas company and ask
But be aware you may have some people show up in white lab coats to take you away Hee HEeeeee the the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time (song " There coming to take me away " I liked the flip side ( backwards)

Something is 22 feet in the direction of the dots. The earlier suggestion that it is marking the location of some utility makes sense.
But then, there are two pac-men, eating in different directions, so maybe it is just a route marker.

Alien invasion route markings, but why invade Indiana?
22 mile route turn right. Other routes straight. Clever Dan Henrys.
The aliens want Zipp wheels on their spacecraft.
