Temperature -3F. About 8" of snow. Did about 5 miles.

How do you know that is me in the photo? That could be shots of the guy I was riding with. What to do you care anyway? If you don't like my posts, please feel free to use the forums "ignore list" option so you won't be subjected to them. I would hate to think I caused you trauma. :rolleyes:

Nice pictures! You look roasty-toasty, too - and I bet more than one person thought you were totally insane for being out on your bike "in this weather!" :D

I've finally got 95% of my winter outfit ready for cold weather - and now we're having 60's for highs and 40's for lows! :cry:

Ok, I finally know who N7CZinMT is. Other than the poll, I just don't recall seeing your posts!

Anyway, nothing wrong with posting pics of yourself, provided that you aren't buck nekked (unless you're a troll!!). It looks like a lot of fun. I would do that ride with my beater bike, but not my good bike!

You're pretty brave. Me, I'd be inside checking you out while I chilled with some cocoa (with marshmallows).

Hey Koffee! Well, I used to post quite often. I've kind of drifted away from BF a bit since it seemed to me that the tone of the forums was getting a bit negative. I was hoping that I had given it enough time for those responsible for much of the negativity would have lost interest. I guess by oaxacarider's post in this thread that is not the case.

Anyway, back to the positive! I just had to get out and ride. When the weather gets like this I get cabin fever to the 10th degree! So, any ride is better than sitting in the chair watching TV. :D
But the hot cocoa sounds yummy!

My 11 year old and I were out putzing around on the bikes in the snow. He took the photos! I think he has a natural talent for photography.

The pants are made of 100% nylon (shell). They have a lining made of 65% polyester, 35% cotton. I got them at the Salvation Army for $1.50. I have several pair that I can add as an additional layer when the temperature goes below 10F. Beneath them I have my winter weight tights, neoprene knee warmers, and cycling shorts. On top I have a short sleeve jersey, Arm warmers, a long sleeve T-shirt, then the lined jacket you can see in the photo. The gloves are Specialized Sub-Zeros.

It did take "almost" as long to get ready as it did to ride. Funny how that works this time of year. :rolleyes:

I find that when I go out for a ride in the winter, I have to get up 30 minutes earlier than in the summer just so I can get all that extra gear on.

Hey are you running Plant Bike "Freddy fenders hardcore"? My set is god sent and seems to work pretty good in snow. They occasionally rub on the studded tires do to slop build up.

I did get a ride in. Just the commute to work and back. I had great temps on the way home and a tail wind of 20+MPH. Great way to bring in the new year.

Yep, Those are those are Planet Bike Freddy Fenders. I have installed them on both my heavy commuter (photographed) and on my wifes commuter. I installed the yellow ones on her commuter to match the bike and her panniers. I will be installing a pair of them on my Bianchi San Remo soon too. They are just great!

Another 2" of snow overnight. We have around a foot on the level. This is going to be fun. :rolleyes:

Looks like fun 'November 7.' We are having mini-seasons here in Kansas. On Friday I left at 8 AM for a 20 mile ride. It was 55 F. That is unheard of for these parts in late Dec. Exactly one week before at 8 Am i was also riding and the temp was 5 F with a windchill of -10-15 F.

This morning it was 60 F at 8 AM again. I wore cycling shorts with no warmers, tights etc. Fast forward to Monday and we are supposed to have low's in the teens again. Talk about variety! I looked at my digital thermoter which record highs and lows. It showed a low of 3 F and a high of 78F for a 10 day period.

BTW, 5 miles in snow like that is a work out. For those that don't already know.

Awesome. What sort of goggles are those? Just for daytime? I'd like to find a set of light night vision googles. But realistically a pair for bicycling is probably years off.

Hey Ranger! This is the first "real" taste of winter we have had up here. Looks to hang in for at least a week or so. Your weather sound a little like us, except we won't see 70 degree weather until June!

Hi vrkelly! Those are not goggles. They are my normal wrap around cycling glasses. For low light or dark rides, I have a pair of wrap around clear safety glasses. Goggles would be nice, but its hard to leg to of the cash for them. :rolleyes:
