Advocacy & Safety - Helmets in Nevada

I am going to Las Vegas next week and am intending to rent a bike and pedaln to Red Rock. Does anyone know if bike helmets mandantory there? I am in Ontario and they are considering making it a law that helmets must be worn. Thanks.

There is no federal law in the U.S. requiring bicycle helmets. States and localities began adopting laws in 1987, but there is no formal central registry for them. Here are the ones we are aware of as of this date.

But the pedicab operator is now illegal.

When I rented a bike near Lake Tahoe, the bike provider had a big supply of helmets and encouraged everyone to borrow one. California does have a mandatory helmet law, but only for cyclists under the age of 18.

If you're an adult, there are no states in the U.S. that require you to wear a helmet on a bicycle. There are a handful of liberal, nanny-state towns here and there across the fruited plane that do.
None of them are in Nevada.

I guess when a state has taken care of its crime, educational problems, and welfare costs, it can turn to pressing matters like helmet regulation. But rest assured that if a helmet law does pass in one of the fifty states, it's going to be in some place like CT, NY, CA, or NJ. It's not going to happen in Nevada.

He's obviously not a red stater [sic]. He clearly said that CT, NY, CA, or NJ would be the first to adopt helmet laws, and also stated that only states that had solved crime, education and welfare would be able to have the time and energy to create helmet laws, so by chain rule, those 4 blue states are superior to the crime ridden, illiterate red states.
