I was wondering if you all could help me with this bike? I can't find any information about the brand or what it may be worth. Is it a cheap-o bike? Or a rare beauty? :P I'm going to start restoring it to turn it into a touring bike. Any info is good. Thanks.
Its labled Guaranty Le Tour. That's all it really has on it. 247064

Is that a 1-piece crank? Looks like a department-store level bike to me. Honestly, I would not stick more than $50 in this bike to make it rideable.
If you are looking for a serious touring bike I'm afraid I can only advise that you look elsewhere.

It looks like a one piece but actually is a two. It has Suntour and Shimano parts. Its certainly an older bike. I'm just not sure how old. I literally can't find anything but old adds for the name "Guaranty" it seems to be associated with Schwinn? I've seen/read the names together alot.
cheap-o
Steel rims, nutted axles, no cable braze ons (all housing clamps), stamped steel kickstand, steel handlebars, steel seat post, etc.

Well even poop news is better than no news. I guess I'll just junk it. Luckily I didn't pay for it. :D Thanks guys.

Before doing that, I would take the time to clean the bicycle up and make it road worthy. Then offer it for sale on Craigslist, or some similar on-line selling vehicle. Just because you, and some of us, are not interested in the bicycle, does not mean that other people might not want it.
If the bike does sell, take the money and look for something else (http://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpeeds_1/FREE_SITE_1/FREE_SITE_2_FINDING_METHODS_1.htm) to purchase. Pretty soon you will begin to understand the urge to hoard;-(
