Which is the better route out of Winnipeg heading towards Ontario, Dugald Rd (Hwy 115) or Regent Ave (Rte 37)? Or is there another better exit?

#1 highway. Fermor --> Transcanada. You'll be murdered on Dugald #115

Probably too late for the reply, but Regent would be calmer for sure to get you to perimeter to go to the transcanada. Otherwise James Richardson Armstrong and fly. Thats the fastest way out! Safe travels.

The eastern HWY #1 has no shoulder once you get out a bit, and is nonstop semitrucks. I would suggest going through Beauseajeur along the #11, and taking the #44 through the Whiteshell until you get to Falcon Lake, where it becomes 2 lane highway with shoulders

I ended up using the TCH. I had used Highway 2 to Winnipeg and that was awful. I thought the TCH would be better than trying another minor road. It was better but just barely. They really have to do something about their highways in Manitoba. I crossed Canada this summer. Manitoba and Ontario competed for the title of province with the worst roads. Manitoba's were, on average, worse but at least you can get out of that province quickly. Ontario with its poor highways goes on forever.

Perhaps I should start my own thread but since this one is here I'll ask: What's the best way south from Winnipeg to the US border (and which is the best crossing)? I'm headed to the Walker/Brainerd area of Minnesota.
